<<<<<>>>>> BIOMASS ENERGY <<<<<>>>>><<<<<>>>>>
Biomass energy is renewable energy from plants. This is one of it's greatest attractions. Bio-energy crops that can be raised included rape, sunflower (oil), sugar beet (sugar), wheat, barley and rye (starch), soy, ligno-celluloses like Miscanthus, giant reed, and wood plants like the popular, eucalyptus, willow. Switchgrass may be used. It grows in the West and Southeast and puts down ten foot deep roots and prevents erosion. It is drought and flood tolerant and can produce up to three times the yield of hay and could be harvested twice a year. Biodiesel is a vegetable oil-based fuel that can be used in diesel engines, cars, trucks, buses, construction equipment, boats, generators, and oil home heating units. Usually it is made from soy or canola oil but can even use oil from fast food fryers. It can be blended with gasoline or run as a fuel itself. When gas prices hit $7.00 per gallon bio-diesel will come into it's time. It will play a big part in local markets as oil supplies become tighter. Bio-diesel can reduce CO2 emissions by 78%
Cellulosic Ethanol can reduce CO2 emmissions by 68%
